Elmont Chamber Welcomes New Businesses

On Friday, April 11, 2014, the Elmont Chamber had a ribbon cutting ceremony for two new Elmont businesses, Posh Realty located at 811 Elmont Road, and Boun Appetito located at 81 Meacham Avenue.  We wish both businesses much success in the future.

Elmont Chamber Installation Dinner

On Wednesday February 12, 2014, the Elmont Chamber had its installation dinner for its new officers and directors.  At the dinner, the following members were sworn in as officers and directors:

2013 Invest in Elmont Winner

Congratulations to the winner of the 2013 Invest in Elmont $5,000 Scholarship, Kareem Nelson. Kareem's innovative multi-million dollar idea "Veteran's Village at Belmont Park" took the top $5,000 scholarship. The Village would be equipped with hundreds of luxury units with heated pools, fitness center, shopping, entertainment for all ages, and nightlife. Veteran's Village would also take advantage of a fully operational LIRR station that would be open to the entire community with express trains to Penn Station and Barclay's Center.

Elmont Teen Poetry Slam

Power Hour-Recap

Invest in Elmont had its 1st Power Hour on Monday at the Elmont Memorial Library.  Guest speakers were Mr. Steven Krieger of the The Engel Burman Group and Mr. Marc Kemp of Basser-Kaufman.  They presented their proposal for Belmont Park in Elmont which included a full-service supermarket and a proposed Target.  They also discussed developing "housing for young professionals" on the North Lot at Belmont Park.  The Elmont students had an opportunity to speak with these top developers on what it takes to be a successful entrepreneur, and the developers were able to share their experiences in the business world.

Invest in Elmont Annouces Winners of its Black History Month Scholarship

Invest in Elmont is proud to present our annual Black History Month Scholarships to Brandon Atkins and Bradley Atkins, seniors at Elmont Memorial High School. Brandon and Bradley each embody the true spirit of the Invest in Elmont Program and are terrific role models for young adults everywhere. The Invest in Elmont Team wishes Brandon and Bradley all the best in their future endeavors.

Thomas Bennet Humanitarian of the Year Award

The Elmont Chamber of Commerce is proud to name Ralph Esposito as the 1st recipient of the Thomas Bennet Humanitarian of the Year Award.  Mr. Esposito has tirelessly served the Elmont community this past year.  He has volunteered his time to the Elmont community, including the Elmont Fire Department, Elmont American Legion, organized numerous parades and volunteered his time to help those in need in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy.  The Elmont Chamber can think of no better individual to receive this inaugural award.

The Elmont Chamber of Commerce would like to remind everyone that Small Business Saturday is coming up in a few days this November 24, 2012.  Supporting your local Elmont small business is good for the local economy and good for the Elmont community.  And your local Elmont small business will be glad you came.

Newsday writes about the upcoming Elmont Job Fair

The 2nd annual Elmont Job Fair is picking up steam.  This year's Job Fair, taking place on November 3, 2012 at the Elmont Memorial High School, will have over 50 companies present from a wide range of industries.  If you are looking for employment or a new career, the Elmont Job Fair is the place to be.  Here is a recent story in Newsday.
